Frequently asked questions

QuestionAnswer
How does the random number picker choose winners fairly? It draws a 256-bit random seed with your browser's crypto.getRandomValues(), then derives the winners from that seed with SHA-256 and rejection sampling. Every ticket has exactly the same chance, and drawing is done without replacement, so this raffle number generator never picks the same ticket twice in one draw.
What are the verification stamp and seed hash? After each draw the page shows the time, the pool, the seed, the SHA-256 hash of the seed and a draw hash of the full receipt. Because the winners are derived from the seed, anyone who has the seed, the pool and the options can recompute the draw and compare hashes.
Can the same ticket win twice? No. Winners in one draw are always different, and by default winners are removed from the pool for later draws of the same pool. Duplicate lines in a pasted list are merged, so a ticket written twice still counts once.
How do I pick giveaway winners from messy ticket numbers?Choose Custom List and paste your ticket numbers, separated by new lines, commas, semicolons or tabs. Blank lines and duplicates are cleaned automatically, and the tool shows how many unique tickets were found.
How many winners can I pick at once? You can pick 1 to 10 winners in one draw. For more winners, press Pick Winners again; with Remove winners from the pool turned on, earlier winners cannot be drawn again.
Can I prove the draw was fair to participants?Copy the summary and share it with participants. For the strongest proof, record the draw, publish your ticket list or its hash first, and use a public seed announced after entries close. The timestamp comes from your device clock, so it is a record rather than a trusted time stamp.
