Ambati Rayudu is a stylish middle-order batsman who has built a reputation for being a dangerous floater owing to his clean striking of the ball and cool approach. The 33-year-old was a revelation for CSK at the top of the order during the victorious 2018 campaign which led to his One-Day International comeback.

1. Australia's Matthew Wade went unsold in the auction while Ambati Rayudu was acquired by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for Rs 6.75 crore. 


2. Ambati Rayudu is a former Indian cricketer who played for the Indian national cricket team.

3. He was born on September 23, 1985, in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India.

4. Rayudu started playing cricket at a young age and was a part of the Hyderabad Under-16 team when he was just 12 years old.

5. He made his first-class debut for Hyderabad in 2002 at the age of 16.

6. Rayudu is a right-handed middle-order batsman and occasional wicket-keeper.

7. He is known for his aggressive batting style and ability to play under pressure.

8. In 2004, he was banned from playing domestic cricket for one year after he decided to leave the Hyderabad team and join the Indian Cricket League (ICL), a domestic T20 league not recognized by the BCCI.

9. Rayudu played for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2010 to 2017 and for the Chennai Super Kings from 2018 to 2023.
