How to Create a Poll on WhatsApp

Polls are a simple way to ask questions and get real-time answers in a group chat.

Create a poll

1. Open a chat.

2. Tap Attach > Poll > Create Poll.

3. Under Question, enter your question.

4. Under Options, enter your poll options. Tap and hold to change the order of your poll options by sliding up or down.

5. Users can vote for multiple options on polls by default. To prevent users from voting for more than one option, turn off the Allow multiple answers toggle by tapping it.

6. Tap to create your poll.

Note: To receive updates on incoming votes, make sure push notifications for WhatsApp are enabled on your device. You will only receive one push notification for each poll you create.

Respond to a poll

Tap on the options you want to vote for.

Note:

To remove your vote for an option, tap the option again.

If the creator of the poll has turned off multiple answers, tapping multiple options will deselect the options that you previously tapped.

Method 1: Group Chat

1. Create a Group: Start by creating a group chat with the participants you want to involve in the poll.

2. Create the Poll: In the group chat, type out your poll question and provide options. Each option should be on a new line and marked with a number or letter to represent the choice (e.g., "1. Option A", "2. Option B", and so on).

3. Collect Responses: Group members can then respond by sending the number or letter corresponding to their choice. You can manually count the responses to determine the results.

Method 2: Individual Messaging

1. Send the Poll: Send a message to the individuals you want to be involved in the poll. Type out your poll question and provide options in the same way as described above.

2. Responses: Individuals can respond by sending you the number or letter corresponding to their choice. Again, you would manually count the responses to determine the results.
